JOIN US FOR ISCM WORLD NEW MUSIC DAYS 2017
A FESTIVAL OF TODAY’S FRESHEST MUSIC
Featuring more than 30 concerts and outreach events by some of BC’s and Canada’s best musicians, the festival will be a cohesive, relevant, and daring event, and a defining moment for contemporary music in Canada.
The festival will highlight music from nearly 50 countries, making it a truly global event that helps inspire and connect composers and listeners from around the world.
November 2-8, 2017 The ISCM’s Call for Works process will guide us in selecting new music from an international roster of composers, improvisers, and installation artists. For detailed guidelines, instructions on how to submit, and deadlines, click on Call for Works. Concert partners will include leading new music ensembles, culturally diverse performers, improvisers, and cutting-edge genre-bending musicians. They’ll be featured prominently, reflecting Canada’s cultural diversity and distinctive artistic practices, and sharing their artistic visions and unique performances. Led by ISCM Canadian Section President Jim Hiscott, Administrative Director Morna Edmundson, the Canadian League of Composers, and Artistic Director David Pay in Music on Main’s trademark casual, engaging, contemporary style, the ISCM World New Music Days 2017 will provoke, connect, excite, and engage the Vancouver public, embracing a global perspective, and inspiring audiences and musicians long after November 2017.
