VISITING VANCOUVER

Generation X. Cyborg. Greenpeace. Soundscape. These are just some of the ideas that have spread from Vancouver, on the west coast of Canada.

It’s a place nestled where mountains and ocean meet. A new meeting ground, half way between Asia and Europe, where Chinese, Punjabi, and European immigrants have lived for 150 years, where indigenous culture has thrived for more than 10,000 years.

And it’s a place where artists, audiences and ISCM members will share an experience of transformation, of learning, of discovery through new music.

All of us at the Canadian League of Composers, Music on Main, and in Vancouver’s rich musical community look forward to welcoming you in 2017.

Vancouver, British Columbia is on Canada’s west coast, situated along the country’s southern border in North America’s most fertile, green landscape. Amid the stunning natural beauty of the Coastal Mountain range, the Fraser River and the Pacific Ocean, Canada’s third largest city is home to 2.4 million inhabitants. As one of Canada’s most culturally diverse cities, Vancouver offers a multitude of languages, cultural traditions and cuisines, making for a vibrant, rich urban experience. Vancouver hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics and, with other cities across Canada, the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2015.
